Check out Dining In The Dark at Colonial Hall at Rockafellas October 13, 14, 20 and 21 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Per Head First Events and Colonial Hall:

“Once blindfolded let your senses take over and you’ll enjoy the smells, the sounds, the tastes and the textures in a way you never thought possible.

You will be warmly welcomed by your hostess who will guide you through the evening while you enjoy the most extraordinary three-course meal. When you are comfortable you will adjust your mask and be guided to your table where the fun really begins.

Your evening will be a combination of fine food, inspiring music and a story that ties everything together. You’ll laugh and enjoy, you’ll guess what you are eating and you will focus on the food and each other.

At the end of the evening the masks will be removed, the menu will be revealed and on display and you will feel relaxed and inspired.

The concept of purposefully eating in complete pitch-black dark originated with Jorge Spielmann, a blind clergyman from Zurich. When guests ate dinner at the Spielmann house some would wear blindfolds during their meal to show solidarity with their host and to better understand his world. What Spielmann’s sighted guests found was that the blindfolds heightened their sense of taste and smell and made their dining experience more enjoyable.

This unique dining concept opened as a restaurant in Switzerland called blindekuh (Blind Cow) and has expanded to restaurants in Paris, Moscow, Berlin, Prague, Hong Kong and more recently in New York and California. We are proud to have introduce the concept to Boston and New England in 2010, and even prouder of the rave reviews we’ve received since then.

This fall, we are delighted to partner with the Colonial Hall at Rockafellas in Salem to offer four special Dining in the Dark events just in time for Halloween.”
