10th Annual It Starts With ME! Turkey Drive — 2017 drive info

The holidays can be a hard time for many families, and I love that Salem is chipping in to help out. The 10th Annual It Starts with ME! Drive is happening now through November 18th.

“It’s that time of year again to start planning my favorite charity event – the annual Turkey Drive!

Each year ISWM, friends, family and strangers organize a turkey drive to help provide Thanksgiving meals to families and Veterans in need on the North Shore as well as provide fresh produce and boxes of food to local shelters. We provide everything families need to cook a thanksgiving meal with their families; tin pan to the butter. We deliver these meals the Tuesday before Thanksgiving each year. Families are found from the school systems, Veterans agencies, family agencies and churches.

This is our 10th Annual Turkey Drive and over the years this event has exceeded our expectations.

2008 – 9 Thanksgiving meals as well as boxes of food
2009 – 20 Thanksgiving meals as well as boxes of food
2010 – 54 Thanksgiving meals, 15 boxes of food and 8 boxes of clothing
2011 – 67 Thanksgiving meals as well as boxes of food and clothing
2012 – 84 Thanksgiving meals and 15 boxes of food were donated to local families and veterans on the North Shore and the boxes of food was  donated to 3 different shelters.
2013 – 117 Thanksgiving meals and 75 boxes of food to shelters
2014 – 140 Thanksgiving meals and 70 boxes of food to shelters
2015 – 204 Thanksgiving meals and 50 boxes of food to shelters
2016 – 362 Thanksgiving meals and 103 boxes of food to shelters

It’s amazing to see more and more people and organizations getting involved in this event!

Items need to complete these meals;
Turkey, gravy, tin turkey pans, stuffing, veggies, rolls/breads, milk, juice, potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce, desserts, pies, butter, oil and eggs. (With donations received ISWM will purchase the turkeys and milk from Market Basket)

Drop Off Locations (Nov 1 – Nov 18th):

1. Salem Liquors – 125 Canal Street, Salem and 128 North Street, Salem

2. House of Seven Gables

3. Salem Police Department

4. Can also drop off items to my house just message me to arrange times.

If you are dropping off something that requires refrigeration or a gift certificate please email me so I can make arrangements to meet you or make sure someone is home to assist.

Cash donations can be made through the ISWM paypal account which you can find the link on ISWMCharity.com or mailed to 2C Fletcher Way, Salem, MA 01970. Check made out to It Starts With ME!”
