Santa’s Arrival and Holiday Tree Lighting 2017 — Nov. 24, 2017

So I am certainly not trying to push the Christmas stuff, especially since we haven’t hit Thanksgiving yet – but this event is actually next week, the day after turkey day. 😛

“A beloved annual tradition, Santa Claus will arrive at the top of the Hawthorne Hotel at 18 Washington Square promptly at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 – with assistance from the Salem Fire Department, of course. We recommend getting there by 5:45 p.m. at the latest.

A procession will then continue down the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall for the Holiday Tree Lighting at Lappin Park. Participants are encouraged to bring lanterns (store-bought or homemade) to carry in the procession. Safety first, though – electric candles, please! This event is RAIN OR SHINE!

Salem Main Streets would like to thank the City of Salem, the Hawthorne Hotel,Gigi Gill, and the many other community partners who make these special events possible. Lights and decorations for the Holiday Tree were made possible by individual contributions and donations from a number of local businesses, including significant donations from Salem’s October visitors.”
