The Friday Favorites — New Age shops

I know I didn’t post a Friday Favorites last week, that is because I have been super busy with admin work behind the scenes here. If you follow my social media, you’ll know I am working on moving hosts (so this site is going to have an overhaul very soon) and I am also building a sister site to Things To Do In Salem which will be launched shortly. I have been posting daily, as always and here to answer your questions as I always do but behind the scenes I am a busy bee. 😛 So for today’s Friday Favorites we’re going to talk about…NEW AGE SHOPS!

I am going to use the term “New Age shop” to define any shop in Salem that sells goods of the “witchy” or Pagan variety. Candles, incense, books, stones, herbs, offers readings, etc. You get the idea. Some may not identify with this term and what they offer may extend beyond the aforementioned groups but for the purposes of this blog post, that’s what we’re going with just for simplicity’s sake.

There are quite a few New Age shops in Salem as I am sure one could imagine, and they all have their own vibe. There are many ways to practice Pagan faiths or to be a practicing witch, so they are all different from one another in my opinion. I have wandered all of them many, many times and I enjoy that factor – they are all unique though they may be selling similar items.

One of my favorites has always been Artemisia Botanicals. I love the shop for two main reasons…(1) the herbs and (2) the overall vibe. The apothecary style herbal selection is ah-mahhhz-ing. I absolutely love it and have purchased so many loose herbs here over the years I can’t even count. I blend my own incense and Artemisia Botanicals is always my go to. The entire store has a very welcoming energy to it and the employees have always been super helpful with questions.

My other favorite is Pyramid Books. They are a great overall one-stop-shop kind of place, in my opinion because they have a bit of everything there. My favorite part though is the gemstone collection. They have a HUGE display with stones of pretty much every variety and size you could be looking for. They also have an excellent jewelry selection and I own many pieces from this shop.
