Did you know Salem is the birthplace of the National Guard? In addition to that, the witch city also has a history with the Coast Guard.
Per the Facebook event:
“Come aboard Naumkeag to explore the significant role of the Coast Guard in Salem and the surrounding communities. John Galluzo, a Coast Guard historian, will be leading this special harbor tour that will allow guests to get up close and personal on the water with sites that played a significant role in the fascinating military history of the county. From it’s early role in protecting Salem’s bustling trade activities, to keeping watchful eye out for German submarines during WWII, the Coast Guard was instrumental in keeping Americans safe. From both a local and national perspective, the story of the U.S. Coast Guard in Salem is one worth hearing and a portion of ticket sales from this tour will be donated to the Coast Guard History Foundation.”
This event takes place on August 2, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Salem Ferry Dock, 10 Blaney Street Salem, MA 01970. Tickets are available here. Enjoy!! <3
