The children’s costume parade is part of Salem’s Wicked Wednesday programming, however I wanted to have a separate post for it here to include all of the details. Per Facebook:
“Be aware there are two parts to this event!
1.) Children’s parade that starts at Riley Plaza at the flag circle area and moves up Washington to Lappin Park, across Washington, and down the Pedestrian Mall to the Fountain. The plan is to round up at 4 and hopefully start marching about 4:15ish… The parade will be on the sidewalks not on the street and we do have some volunteers to assist and the Salem Police will be assisting with the crosswalks.
2.) Entertainment and costume party at the fountain stage. The plan is to have the music and entertainment set up and ready to go by 4:30 roughly the same time that the kids arrive from the parade. So if you are not coming for the parade and head right to the fountain stage please be patient as we will be getting the entertainment set up as soon as humanly possible. The safest bet is that this portion is from 5-7PM.
Details
This is an all-volunteer event.. If you have questions Creative Collective and The Phoenix School, Salem, MA will have representatives at Riley and at the fountain area.
Thanks to Upsidemedia, LLC (Sound and Audio) Retonica (lights)There is no food at this event. The premise of Wicked Wednesdays was to add some programming but encourage people to frequent the establishments downtown and they will all be open and ready for you! Make sure and let them know that you are out and about enjoying the initiative so we can do it again next year!
There are some other Wicked Wednesday offerings that you should check out as well: https://hauntedhappenings.org/wickedwednesdays/

Wicked Wednesdays are an initiative to bring mid-week family programming to Downtown Salem to offer more programming and commerce in the area from The Pedestrian Mall to the House of Seven Gables and beyond. Bring the family for mid-week entertainment, musicians, family-friendly walking tours, and interactive events geared for the 12 and under crowd.”
This takes place on Oct. 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, beginning at Riley Plaza for the parade. Enjoy!! <3
