This looks really neat!! I love all of the spirit based and supernatural fall events around Salem, this year has some amazing stuff on the calendar. Details per the Facebook event:
“The Salem Séance Mystery Theater, hosted in historic Hamilton Hall in Salem, is a thrilling, thought-provoking experience exploring the boundaries of faith, science, and the supernatural. Through story-telling, demonstrations of apparent psychic phenomena, and a live spirit séance, acclaimed mentalist and magician Meliès takes audiences on an unforgettable journey that is by turns funny, eerie, and deeply affecting.
Few people know that Boston was ground zero for an extraordinary showdown over supernaturalism between Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries, and the renowned magician Harry Houdini. But in 1925, the two sparred publicly over claims by Boston medium Mina Crandon that she could communicate with the dead at her Beacon Hill apartments. Who was right? Doyle, the passionate believer? Or Houdini, the embittered skeptic? Is it really possible to hear from “the other side,” the spirit realm?
Your medium or guide for the evening is mentalist and magician Meliès, named “Best Magician” by GigMasters in 2017 and “Best Magician in Boston” in 2015 and 2016 on the Thumbtack website, based on enthusiatic audience responses to his unique blend of mind-reading, magic, humor, and mystery. Meliès has performed his signature séance show at the Yawkey Theater at the studios of WGBH in Boston, the Rockwell Theater (Somerville), and the William Cullen Bryant Homestead (in the Berkshires).
The Séance Mystery Theater takes place in historic, elegant Hamilton Hall in Salem, Massachusetts, a national landmark and one of the most important Federalist buildings in America. Named for US Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton, the Hall was designed in 1805 and has been in use as an assembly hall for cultural and social events for over two centuries.
The show runs approximately 90 minutes: due to the unpredictable nature of the phenomena in the room, however, actual performance times may vary. Recommended for adults and teens 16 or older. Wheelchair accessible. For more program information, please go to www.Salem-Mystery.com.”
This event has two dates: September 28, 2018 and October 13, 2018, both happenings from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Hamilton Hall, 9 Chestnut St. Salem, MA 01970. Tickets are available here. Enjoy!! <3
