Hi everyone, happy Monday! Last week I missed my blog post, I know. The reason why isn’t anything fun either, I promise. I messed up my back! Welcome to being in your 30’s, I guess? Where you open a window the wrong way after working out and are laid up for a week? ๐ Anyways, thanks for your patience with me while I rested and recovered.
Today on the blog I wanted to share some event based info, so I am going to cover the Massachusetts Poetry Festival. Per the Massachusetts Poetry Festivals website:
“The 2021 Festival will be the first since our 10-year anniversary celebration in 2018. Now a biennial event, the Festival will once again showcase an all-star roster of poets from across the Commonwealth and the country, including more than 50 events in total featuring well over 100+ poets. Headline poets include Victoria Chang, Jos Charles, Martรญn Espada, Tyehimba Jess, Patricia Spears Jones, Lang Leav, Khadijah Queen, Naomi Shihab Nye, Ariana Reines, Dara Wier, and more. You can learn more about these poets by going to our headliners page.
In addition to headline readings, panels, workshops and performances, this yearโs Festival will include some past favorites, such as the State of Poetry Panel, Small Press Fair, Workshops, Poetry and Yoga, along with new events such as an audio walking tour, a Poetry and Pets event, the 2020 Redo Celebration Ceremony, and an online ekphrastic poetry gallery.
The Student Day of Poetry also returns this year, with over 600 students scheduled to participate in writing-generative workshops with the regionโs top poets and educators. Read more about the Student Day of Poetry and Festival events for teachers.”
The Massachusetts Poetry Festival takes place this year from May 13-16, 2021. Some events are online via Zoom and others take place around Salem, MA. To see a full schedule click here. Enjoy!! <3
