Good morning everyone and happy Monday! Today I wanted to update you all on the self guided tours at the Ropes Mansion which is operated by the Peabody Essex Museum. You might recognize the Ropes Mansion as Allison’s house in the movie Hocus Pocus! This info is per the PEM.
“Ropes Mansion (318 Essex Street), 1727, was built in the Georgian style and renovated in 1894 in the Colonial Revival style by the firm Stone, Carpenter & Wilson. Ropes Mansion was home to three generations of the Ropes family. The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Ropes Mansion Tours House tours resume on July 24, 2021, and continue weekends through October 30. Please enjoy the tranquil garden space which is open to the public 365 days a year, from dawn to dusk, at no charge. Dogs are most welcome.”
Definitely be sure to walk around back and check out the gardens, they are so beautiful. Enjoy!! <3
