Hi everyone, happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. The Salem Farmers’ Market opens for the 2022 in just a few days so today I wanted to share all of that information with you.
Salem Farmers’ Market, Salem MA 2022
“The Salem Farmers’ Market is a tradition that dates back to 1634. With its peak around 1930, where more than 40 vendors sold goods in collapsible wooden stalls, an estimated 10,000 people visited the market on a single Saturday. In the early 1970s, the market ended, and the Salem Redevelopment Authority redesigned the square into what we now know as Derby Square. The mission of the Salem Farmers’ Market is to enhance the quality of life in the Salem downtown area by providing a community activity that fosters social gathering and interaction, provide a convenient and congenial means of purchasing locally grown or prepared food products and support local agriculture and producers by providing a direct market for their produce and goods.” [Source]
The dates for the 2022 season are as follows: Thursdays from 3-7 pm, June 9 through October 13 at Derby Square off Front st., 32 Derby Square Salem, MA 01970. Please note the Salem Farmers’ Market is no longer being held at Bentley School, it has returned to Derby Square. Enjoy!! <3
