Hello everyone, happy Monday and welcome back. Today on the blog I have a collection of photos I took yesterday at the Salem Merry-time Fest. If you weren’t able to make it here to check out the festivities or see the Kalmar Nyckel docked here in Salem, this is a quick glimpse at the day. First off, what is the Salem Merry-time Fest?
The Salem Merry-time Fest 2023
“Join us for the first annual Salem Merry-time Fest on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Salem Maritime National Historic Site on Derby Street. This event is free and open to the public.
In previous years, Salem Maritime held the annual “Salem Maritime Festivals” at the park. Following state and local guidance, the festival was canceled in 2020 and remained on hiatus through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Salem Merry-time Fest will feature musicians, a magician, visiting vessels, and hands-on activities. In addition to traditional offerings, this year’s event will introduce the first “Great Salem Cardboard Boat Regatta.” Teams of two will test their engineering, ingenuity, and artistry by building homemade boats constructed of cardboard and duct tape. Launching from Derby Beach in a series of heats, teams will race to paddle their cardboard boats in the Salem Sound. More information below!” [Source: Salem Maritime NPS]
And without further delay, here are my images. Please note all of these images are copyright Things to do in Salem, LLC and may not be used without permission. If you have any questions on that, please feel free to contact me. Thank you!
I hope you enjoyed this quick glimpse into the day. 🙂
