Hi everyone, welcome back to the blog. For today I wanted to focus on a commonly asked question about visiting Salem. It\u2019s one I see pop up in my Facebook group<\/a> as well as in Google analytics so I wanted to chat about it today. The question is\u2026do you need to rent a car in Salem, MA?<\/p>\n

The short answer is no. You don\u2019t really need a car once you\u2019re in Salem, MA<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Getting into Salem is another story. If you\u2019re flying into Boston Logan airport, you\u2019re going to need to either rent a car or take public transportation into Salem. You can take the train, ride share with either Uber or Lyft or rent a car for the short drive. It\u2019s about 35-45 minutes away.<\/p>\n

Once you have made it into Salem, pretty much everything you\u2019d want to see is walkable and the city is very pedestrian friendly. There are only a few outlying places that you might<\/em> want to Uber to. These places include (but are not limited to) Far From the Tree Cider, Pioneer Village, the Proctor\u2019s Ledge Memorial, the Salem Willows and 4 Ocean Ave. which is a Hocus Pocus filming location. It\u2019s all up to you, how far you\u2019re comfortable walking and the mobility of the people you have with you. I\u2019d suggest using Google Maps to get an idea of the layout of the city ahead of time.<\/p>\n

If you do bring the a car into Salem, keep in mind parking can be tricky. This applies extra to visiting in the fall. I\u2019d highly recommend booking a hotel, inn or Airbnb that has guest parking so you don\u2019t have to worry about it. If not, the following links are for you.<\/p>\n
