Hi everyone, happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. I often pull questions from my Facebook group<\/a> and turn them into blog posts and today I am doing exactly that. I regularly see people ask about haunted locations in Salem and figured today I could focus on hotels. First and foremost, there are no locations in Salem, MA that are confirmed to be 100000% haunted. This information is all based off of what the hotel employees and its guests have said over the years.<\/p>\n

So which hotels do we frequently see pop up when this question is asked?<\/p>\n

The Hawthorne Hotel<\/h4>\n

The Hawthorne Hotel<\/a> comes up time and time again as being haunted. I stayed there one weekend in 2019 while working with the hotel and am pretty sure I saw a phantom black cat run across my room! I know that is such a token or clich\u00e9 thing to see, but it’s true! A little bit about the hotel, per their website:<\/p>\n

“Established in 1925, the historic Hawthorne Hotel is situated in the heart of Salem, and a proud member of the Historic Hotels of America. To date, over 1 million guests stayed at the hotel and many generations held their weddings, anniversaries or prom parties in the Grand Ballroom.”<\/p>\n

The Salem Inn<\/h4>\n

The Salem Inn<\/a> is absolutely gorgeous and as far as guests are concerned, absolutely haunted. I have read discussions in my Facebook group about loud noises, thumping, apparitions and more. A few members of my group even reported deciding to leave in the middle of the night to stay elsewhere last minute! A little bit about the Inn, per their website:<\/p>\n

“35 years ago, Dick and Diane Pabich purchased the 1834 home of Captain Nathaniel West and converted it into a bed and breakfast. Thus, the Salem Inn was born. Since then, the couple bought and renovated the Peabody House and the Curwen House, expanding the Inn to more than 40 unique historic rooms.”<\/p>\n

The Merchant Inn<\/h4>\n

The Merchant Inn<\/a> is located in a great spot in Salem (much like the Hawthorne) and boasts a long and involved role in Salem’s history. A little bit about the Inn, per their website:<\/p>\n

“Rum, pepper and a little bit of mystery. Our Salem MA hotel’s name and tagline pay homage to Joshua Ward, the post-Revolutionary War sea merchant and privateer who commissioned the stunning federal style building that today houses our Salem boutique hotel. Built by acclaimed 18th century architect Samuel McIntire, the property hosted president Washington in 1789 and lived many lives prior to becoming our chic, intimately-sized Salem MA lodging.”<\/p>\n

There you have it! Three accommodations in Salem that come up as reportedly haunted, time and time again. This list is not all inclusive, just meant to get the ball rolling if you’re looking for a spooky stay in the witch city. Enjoy!! <3<\/p>\n
