I know that it isn\u2019t possible for everyone to make a visit to Salem, for many reasons. Sometimes distance is the issue, money, family obligations, etc. However that doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t channel some Salem vibes into your day! The little list below is some suggestions on how to do just that.<\/p>\n

Have a Hocus Pocus marathon<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Now this one should be obvious, and not just because it\u2019s October and Freeform is pretty much playing it on loop as we get closer to Halloween. Salem actually served as the filming location for many scenes in the movie! To check out a breakdown of where they are, click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Check out local fall activities in your area<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Make hot chocolate, mull apple cider in your crock-pot, wander a pumpkin patch\u2026you get the idea. If you\u2019re in\u00a0New England, take a little car ride through some back roads and check out the foliage. This time of year is gorgeous, so enjoy it! Getting a taste of the autumn energies around you might be just what you need.<\/p>\n

Browse Halloween costume inspiration online<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There are those who dress up for Halloween in Salem like it\u2019s their career, and it is nothing short of amazing. I recently did a little interview with MrBones of Salem as well as The Salem Black Hat Society, and I also have a Pinterest board of costumes which can be seen here<\/a>. In addition, there are many makeup gurus on YouTube who create fantastic tutorials, Spirit Halloween\u2019s website is loaded with ideas and\u00a0Instagram is also a goldmine, just search the appropriate hashtags.\u00a0Decorating your house and planning your costume will be sure to get you into some spooky vibes for this time of year.<\/p>\n

Curl up with a book<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote The House of the Seven Gables<\/a>, and if you can\u2019t get to Salem to see the actual location, reading about it might do the trick. You could also check out the Images of America book about the House<\/a>\u00a0which is all from a historical perspective if that\u2019s more your thing. Follow social media accounts related to photographing Salem<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There are some amazingly talented photographers in the area who simply take gorgeous pictures of the Witch City. Some of my favorites are on Instagram and they are Hello Salem<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Salem Weather<\/a>. In addition to that (though they aren\u2019t Salem specific) I like IGersMass<\/a> and History of Massachusetts<\/a>.<\/p>\n
