Hey everyone, happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. I see folks asking all of the time in my Facebook group<\/a> about how to escape the October crowds, how to get into a restaurant without waiting an hour or more and where the hidden gems are that us locals go to. Within today\u2019s blog post I am going to show you exactly that. Escape the crowds with me to Mission Boathouse, right over the bridge in Beverly.<\/p>\n

Salem and Beverly are connected by a short bridge and Mission Boathouse sits right at the foot of it in Beverly. It is a super easy drive of only a few minutes to escape some of the fall chaos here in the witch city. Mission Boathouse is part of the Mission Management Group which also owns and operates Mission on the Bay in Swampscott, Mission Oak Grill in Newburyport and Mission Beach House in Revere.<\/p>\n

I went with my partner one evening and we had such a lovely meal<\/em>. We were seated in literally the most perfect spot, right against a huge window that faces the bridge and pier. It was absolutely stunning, we were in the best seat in the house.<\/p>\n

Seriously, look at that view. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, she made suggestions and helped us pick out our appetizers. I got the chowder (I am a sucker for a good cup of New England clam chowder!) and my boyfriend got the lobster and crab cakes.<\/p>\n

The chowder was a classic and I really liked all of the crumbled bacon on top. My boyfriend\u2019s lobster and crab cakes had a mango-cilantro salsa on top with poblano pepper relish, paprika oil, lemon and scallions. They were both delicious. For our entrees my boyfriend went with one of the specials which was an absolutely massive<\/em> bone-in steak and I went with another classic: fish and chips. The photos don\u2019t even do it justice, both of these servings were quite large.<\/p>\n

I thought for sure that there was no room for dessert, however when the waitress mentioned that their special for the evening was bread pudding, my ears perked right up. I ordered that and my boyfriend ordered the cr\u00e8me brul\u00e9e which he is always in the mood for. I am not usually super big on cr\u00e8me brul\u00e9e but I did try a bite and it was delicious. (Does anyone else secretly like tapping the spoon on the burnt top of the cr\u00e8me brul\u00e9e because of the sound it makes? Just me here\u2026?) The bread pudding was amazing as well and came loaded with ice cream and toppings.<\/p>\n

After dinner we decided to take a quick walk around to the back side of Mission Boathouse where there is a dock and lovely views of the sunset. It was gorgeous all lit up now that the sun had gone down a bit and we took in the views for a few.<\/p>\n

How beautiful is that? Escaping the chaos of Salem for an evening to Mission Boathouse was absolutely lovely. I highly recommend it regardless of if you\u2019re visiting us for the fall or if you\u2019re a local and you\u2019re just looking for a new favorite spot. Mission Boathouse even features several event spaces that can accommodate smaller seated dinners, large events up to 200+ guests or even restaurant buyouts if you want the whole space to yourself.
