things to do in salem, when youre stuck inside salem ma edition

I’m stuck inside right now. You’re stuck inside right now. It’s a thing. So why not have a little fun while you’re at it? Today on the blog I have some suggestions for you of things you can do to pass the time.

Spring cleaning

Okay, yeah I know that no one likes hearing this suggestion but it’s a legit one. Go through and deep clean everything. Shake up the stale energy around the place and make your living space super comfy and welcoming.

If you’d like to clean from a metaphysical angle, I’d suggest checking out HausMagick: Transform your home with Witchcraft by Erica Feldman. Erica runs HausWitch right here in Salem. You could also browse the LightHaus cleaning products she offers here.

If your cleaning efforts include decluttering clothing and home items, set them aside for donation. LifeBridge here in Salem might be a good spot to donate to once businesses are open again or I’d also suggest looking into donating to women’s shelters and homeless shelters. Alternatively you can do your own research and find donation organizations that align with your personal values.

Catch up on reading

If you have a pile of books on the side table, now might be a good time to catch up on that. If you need suggestions, a while ago I created a book list in collaboration with Wicked Good Books covering just that. Check out the suggestions here.

Burn some candles

I don’t know about you all but I love having candles going. The extra time at home means I have been doing a ton of that. If you need some Salem based inspo, check out the collection History by the Sea created with Herbal Candle Co. Two new scents have been added and you’re sure to find one you like. I myself am eyeing the Pioneer Village one.

Do some online retail therapy

Retail therapy is totally a thing and many of Salem’s businesses are offering online shopping at this time where we cannot visit the stores in person. If you’re in a position where you can spend some extra cash then I encourage you to search your favorite spots in Salem out online and place orders through their websites. This helps everyone across the board in these trying times.

Decorate for Halloween

Yup – I said it. Decorate for Halloween. I give you permission. If the fall season brings you joy then embrace it! Add some pumpkin decor, orange and black and apple spice to your day. It might be what you need to lift your spirits.

A few days ago, Youtuber Mykie aka Glam and Gore created a video where she did just that and it came out awesome. If you’re going to be looking at the walls of your house or apartment it may as well make you smile, right?

I hope this helps give you some ideas for lifting your spirits in these times – it’s all going to pass and it’ll all be okay. Hang tight, guys. Enjoy!! <3
