Along the lines of the last suggestion, why not head out onto the water once you’re in Salem? My personal favorite is the Schooner Fame. You can purchase a gift card ahead of time or buy tickets now for when they open for the season on their website.

If you want to give your mom the gift of reading, check out “Salem (Images of America)“. The book goes into the city’s history and provides historic images from Salem’s past along the way.
