things to do in salem, top three favorite things to do in salem ma during the fall

Hi guys! Welcome back to the blog. The fall is, of course, the most popular time to come into Salem, so today I wanted to chat about my top three favorite things to do during that time. Now, keep in mind that this is entirely subjective. There are tons of other things to do in Salem in the fall, this list isn’t all inclusive. It’s just my personal opinion about my top three favs.

Please also keep in mind the city of Salem is still currently dealing with phased reopenings during the Coronavirus pandemic, so items I mention below may not be happening in 2020. Pay attention to the calendars and social media. You can also click here to read an update as of July 2020.

So without further delay, here we go.

The Haunted Biz Baz Street Fair and Essex Street Fair

Okay, I know the Essex Street Fair is in August which could be argued is the summer, but I am including both of these street fairs here in this blog post. The Haunted Biz Baz takes place in October. I absolutely love wandering both of these, checking out tons of handmade goods, supporting local businesses and scoring unique finds all at once.

Enjoy Salem’s buskers and street performers

The streets come alive in the fall with Salem’s beloved buskers and performers. I love wandering around and taking it all in, watching them interact with people. Seeing little kids reacting to Borah is always a personal favorite. 😛

Take it all in

This last item can come in a few different forms. My favorite ways to do this are the following…

  • Walking around on foot with my camera in hand
  • Hopping the Salem Trolley and sight seeing on wheels
  • Just simply walking around and popping my head into whatever shops and restaurants grab me at that moment
  • Grabbing some food from a street vendor and parking myself on a bench at the Common to people watch

It’s entirely up to you. However, I would definitely suggest putting aside at least a little time to just enjoy the city and all is has to offer, without a tight schedule to stick to.
