Hi everyone, happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. For today’s post I want to address a commonly asked question that I see in my analytics as well as in my Facebook group. That question is: Is Salem, MA walkable?
Is Salem, MA walkable?
The very short and sweet answer is YES. Salem is very walkable. Most of the main downtown, “touristy area” is only about a mile or so wide.
What are my other options?
If you don’t want to walk from one side of Salem to the other or are unable to, you might consider the following options…
- The Salem Trolley
Take a tour and rest your feet at the same time! The Trolley is also available for hop on/off service at the flag stop locations, valid through the day you purchase your ticket. Please note this option may be limited during peak season in the fall. - BlueBikes
You might also consider the BlueBikes program which allows you to rent a bike for yourself. - The Salem Sipper
This is a local rideshare service, download the app and book a ride.
How to get into Salem, MA
Okay so maybe you took a plane into MA or are coming in from surrounding areas. How do you get into Salem, MA? You have a few options. First, you could rent a car and drive in. Just know that once you get here you’re going to be parking the car and not really needing it much after that. Second you could use a rideshare app like Lyft or Uber. Third, you could take the Salem Ferry from Boston into Salem if you’re visiting during operating season. Fourth you could take the train. There is a train station stop right in Salem which is just a minute or two walk from the downtown area.
I hope this helped. Have fun and enjoy!! <3
