things to do in salem, new foods in salem ma

Hey everyone! Happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. Today I wanted to do something a little different and cover a few new foods I have tried here in Salem lately. Salem has no shortage of amazing restaurants and foods and the following are some new ones for me.

New foods I have tried in Salem, MA

If you’re on my newsletter list (sign up here!) then you already know that I stopped into The Babe a few weeks after they opened. I tried the fried mozzarella appetizer to start and for my meal I had the burger. The fried mozzarella was delicious and the spicy marinara it came with was super good. It wasn’t too spicy at all, if you’re worried about that. The burger was SO good with a nice and toasty bun, meat blended in house and excellent toppings. Overall, I’d give this an 8.5/10.

Also on my list of new tries is the mac and cheese from the Gulu-Gulu Cafe. I’ve been to Gulu many, many times, however I had not tried the mac and cheese until a few weeks ago. Ohhh my goodness. It was extremely rich and dense. I’d definitely order it again and give it a solid 8.75/10. The person I was with at Gulu also got the mac and cheese, she got hers with avocado on top and said it was a lovely addition.

Another new try for me is the strawberry paczki from Coffee Time. I have had their paczki many times and I absolutely love it. However, the strawberry flavor was new for me and immediately became my new favorite. 10/10. If you want to try paczki from Coffee Time be sure to act quickly, it’s seasonal and will be retired pretty soon until next spring.

Finally, we have a Philly cheesesteak from The Babe. Now I have to say, everything I have had from The Babe so far has been good, however, this sandwich sort of missed the mark if you ask me. It was a bit on the dry side and the cheese was non existent, it was more like a steak sandwich. The steak was good, however, the sandwich overall was lacking. I’d give this a 3.75/10, however I would still go back to The Babe to try other food there, without hesitation. So don’t let that deter you.

There you have it! A handful of new foods I have tried over the last month here in Salem. Which ones are you planning to try? Enjoy!! <3
