Hey everyone, happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. Today’s post is going to be a roundup of holiday events happening in Salem, MA for 2024. Please note this list is not all inclusive – it’s a starting point to get the ideas flowing. 🙂 Please also note that some attractions here in Salem are seasonal or adjust their hours for the winter, so if you are visiting us from a distance, it’s a good idea to check hours of any business or attraction you have your heart set on. So here we go!

Girl Gang Craft Salem Holiday Craft Fair – November 23, 2024 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Santa’s arrival and the lighting of Salem’s holiday tree – November 29, 2024 5:45 pm

“Join Salem Main Streets and the City of Salem as we celebrate two of our most beloved annual traditions – Santa’s Arrival and the lighting of Salem’s Holiday Tree – all in one evening! Santa Claus will arrive at the top of the Hawthorne Hotel (18 Washington Square W) promptly at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, with assistance from the Salem Fire Department, of course. Organizers recommend arriving to the Salem Common by 5:45 p.m. to catch the arrival. Bring the whole family out for brass carols with Coventry Brass, festivities, and fun!” Source: Salem Main Streets

Salem Arts Association Holiday Artists’ Market – November 30, 2024 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

This event takes place at the Old Town Hall. “We are planning a festive market with live music and a seasonal theme featuring a variety of local artisans and crafters offering original fine art, unique gifts, and hand-made housewares to delight yourself or gift to others.” Source: Salem Arts Association

The 2024 Holiday Window Contest – December 2024

“The holidays are coming, and Salem will be dressed for the season with trees, wreaths, and ribbons. Every year, downtown businesses decorate their windows especially for the holidays and judges nominated by Salem Main Streets make the rounds to vote on the best windows. Look for the white Salem Main Streets Window Contest decal in windows around town to know if they are participating.” Source: Salem Main Streets

Christmas in Salem House Tour – December 7-8, 2024

“Few communities have the rich legacy of historic houses that Salem, Massachusetts boasts. These homes, spanning four centuries, help define the character as well as the appearance of the city. Every year Christmas in Salem focuses on a different neighborhood, with homeowners inviting visitors into their homes fully decked out in holiday regalia. Grave Tidings Market – December 7-8, 2o24

“Grave Tidings is a spooky holiday market, hosted by Witch City Wicks, featuring a carefully curated selection of over 50 of the best spooky, dark, witchy, creepy, strange and macabre vendors. The Salem Yule Marketplace – December 14, 2024 11:00 am to 6:00 pm

This event takes place at the Old Town Hall. “Our markets feature a wide variety of carefully curated creations, in many different types of media. Wassail Weekend – December 14-15, 2025

“Salem Main Streets is introducing a Wassail Weekend on Saturday, Dec. 14th and Sunday, Dec. 15th to encourage residents to shop local and enjoy their downtown during the holiday season. Grab brunch at one of our many fine local eateries, then hit the pavement for special promotions and unique finds all around the downtown.
