things to do in salem, 5 ways to cool off in the summer in salem ma

Hey everyone! Happy Monday and welcome back to the blog. Today I wanted to cover five ways to stay cool this summer in Salem, MA. The weather here in Salem can get quite hot and humid in the summer months and this is a short guide to beating the heat.

Grab a cold sweet treat

This is the most obvious one that comes to mind for most folks. Grab some ice cream! Salem is home to several wonderful options but I think my personal favorite is Holy Cow. They have super unique flavors as well as traditional ones and it always hits.

Stay cool inside

If being out in the sun is too much, move the activities indoors. I’d suggest checking out the Peabody Essex Museum, The House of the Seven Gables or catching a movie at CinemaSalem. If you’re in the mood for some silly fun, get some pictures taken with WitchPix! Need to entertain the kiddos? Try Professor Spindlewinks World of Wizardry. There are tons of indoor options in Salem if you can’t take the humidity.

Get out onto the water

I am a huge advocate for going sailing while you’re here in Salem and taking in the view from the water. My personal recommendation is always the Schooner Fame. Sail around and enjoy the sea breeze – just don’t forget the sunscreen!

Play video games

Bit Bar is a fun restaurant + nostalgic arcade option for gamers. Grab some food, cool off and play video games to escape the heat for a bit.

Take the Salem Trolley for a breezy ride

Instead of walking the whole town in the heat, hop on the Salem Trolley. It’s shaded, narrated, and stops at major attractions and landmarks. This is great for pacing yourself and avoiding the midday sun.

There ya go! I hope this helped give you some ideas. Stay hydrated and enjoy!! <3
