A super common question I see in my Facebook group is about “must-do” items, ultimate bucket list itineraries and “need to see” attractions in Salem. I decided today for the blog to write four smaller sized bucket lists that are broken into seasons. I hope this helps or at least serves as a starting point for getting some ideas kickin’ around. You can also click through the calendar for an overview of all the events going on.
Winter (January – March)
- Salem’s So Sweet Festival
- Salem Film Festival
- Spring Restaurant Week
- Take pictures of the snow around Salem after storms
(be sure to tag #igerssalem on Instagram for a chance to be featured!) - Hot chocolate or a harvest moon latte from Jaho
Spring (April – June)
- Salem Arts Festival
- The Salem Flea
- Go out on the water in Salem
(I’d suggest checking out the Schooner Fame) - North Shore Pride Parade
- Hop onto the Salem Trolley when the weather warms up
Summer (July – September)
- Essex street fair
- Taste of the Gables
- Snacks at Salem Willows
(Seasonal – I love the popcorn from E.W. Hobbs) - Unique ice cream flavors from Melt
- Winter Island drive in movies
Fall (October – December)
- Wander Salem with hot chocolate/tea/coffee, people watch, check out the costumes, take pictures
- Haunted Happenings grand parade
- Go on a walking tour at night, get your tarot cards read
- Haunted Biz Baz street fair
- Christmas in Salem house tour

My sister and I are just about to travel to Salem for the second time on Monday! Never been to Massachusetts during the Winter, I even mentioned this morning that we need to find a good place for hot chocolate while we walk around. This post came at the perfect time!

Jaho is definitely a yummy option for hot chocolate. I also really like their harvest moon latte. I hope you have fun this coming week!!

I’m booking a ladies trip to spend Halloween in Salem. Anything I should do or avoid specifically? It’s overwhelming looking it up and trying to plan based on reading from my phone. Advice from anybody from here or whose been here would be greatly appreciated!
We like haunted, spooky and drinks!

Hi there. I’d book the hotel first, those always go fast and most of Salem is likely already filled up. I’d also grab tickets to a walking tour if you like spooky or maybe the Salem Spirits Trolley if you like drinks too. It brings you around to some of Salem’s breweries and distilleries. 🙂 Have fun!
